There is a wide range of betting options on offer for football punters. Here you can find some of the most popular and get a run down of exactly what the bets entail.
The most simple and most widely available form of football betting, the single. Back the home team to win, the away team to win or the match to end in a draw.
This is a bet where you decide whether the match will end in 0-2 goals or 3+ goals (Over 2.5 and under 2.5). These bets often appeal to system followers because a statistical approach can be used.
Correct score betting involves predicting the score at the end of 90 minutes. This can look like an appealing bet because the odds are generally 5/1 or bigger but in reality, predicting the final score of a football match is a lot harder than it might seem.
Half Time/Full Time
Probably more of a sensible bet than the correct score, this bet involves predicting the match result at both half and full time. There are nine possible outcomes, but it is a bet you can often use to your advantage when you fancy a short price favourite.
First Goal Scorer
As you may have guessed, this bet involves selecting the player to score the first goal. You can also bet on there being no goal scorer. If your selection is not involved in the game when the first goal is scored (on the subs bench or not selected) your stake is refunded. Own goals do not count with most bookmakers.
The Asian Handicap is used to eliminate the draw. Teams are given a goals handicap and you win and lose different amounts depending on the handicap in place and the final results.
